Report alleges over $400,000 stolen in forgery

JONESBORO, Ark. – A report detailing an alleged felony theft in Jonesboro was released this week.

The theft happened between February 15 and May 2 at a business located at 125 Leggett Street, the report says. The report says that a suspect wrote forged checks to the business, Me Equipment. This was apparently to purchase equipment (the report doesn’t show exactly what, but most of the information is masked). The visible portion of the report only says that several checks were forged to the victim.

One visible detail is the amount allegedly stolen. The report says $403,000 was taken. That would more than constitute a charge of theft of $25,000 or more, a Class B felony.

A Class B felony theft offense under Arkansas law carries a sentence of five to 20 years’ incarceration and a fine of no more than $15,000.
