Early December City meetings will be virtual

No in-person participation will be available at the City of Jonesboro’s Dec. 1 and 8 City Council and committee meetings, as part of the City’s effort to diminish a post-Thanksgiving spike in COVID-19 cases.

Many City employees will work from home for two weeks following the holiday weekend, as well.

Active cases and hospitalizations remain high across the city and Craighead County. Health experts of local, state and national levels have warned that the coming weeks and months portend exponential growth in cases and healthcare issues.

The City wants to encourage all residents to help stem this tide. All City meetings continue to be broadcast on FacebookLive and Suddenlink Channel 24, or by going online to Jonesboro.Legistar.com and choosing the appropriate meeting to watch live or recorded video and view agendas. Residents and interested parties can participate either by sending email to CouncilComments@jonesboro.org or calling 870-336-7248 when agenda items are being discussed.

Those are the means to participate in the Dec. 1 Finance (4:30 p.m.), Public Works (5 p.m.) and City Council (5:30 p.m.) meetings, as well as the Dec. 8 Finance (4 p.m.) and MAPC (5:30 p.m.) meetings.

Tuesday’s scheduled meeting of the Finance Committee was canceled because of internet issues in Council Chambers and rescheduled to the following Tuesday.
