
JONESBORO, Ark. – Authorities are warning the public of a theft of mail after a postal service drop box was vandalized Wednesday in Jonesboro.
Jonesboro Police responded to the post office located at 310 East Street in reference to a mail drop box being vandalized, a late release by police said.
Around 7:20 p.m., Postal employees advised officers that the outgoing mail drop box, located on the south side of East Street ,had been vandalized and all of the outgoing mail was taken by unknown suspects. It is believed that this theft occurred between the hours of 5 p.m. Tuesday to 5 p.m. Wednesday evening.
The suspects attempted to gain entry to the drop box on the north side of the roadway, but were unable to make entry.
This incident is currently under investigation according to the JPD release.
If you dropped mail into the south side drop box that contained payments, JPD advises you to contact your financial institution regarding this theft. You may also want to contact the recipient of any payments.
Unknown suspects also broke into two UPS drop boxes located on Fowler Drive and Prosperity Drive, the same release said. It is unknown at this time if items were taken from these two boxes.
