MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – A 36-year-old man is in Baxter County Detention Center is alleged to have made some questionable decisions as the month of December began.
At 10:43 AM Sunday morning, Dec. 1, the jail received a call from a man, according to a press release. The man said “You need to release all the prisoners.” The jailer asked why and the caller replied, “because the place is about to explode.” The man said “have fun with that” and then hung up, the release details.
But he forgot to block his number on the caller ID.
Jail staff immediately had his phone number. Astutely, jailers cross-checked the number with any previous inmates and sure enough, they found a match: Jason Robert Patnou of Lakeview, who had been booked into jail back in March.
So, jailers called the phone number back. They received Patnou’s voicemail.
Around this time, the jail was being searched as a precaution but of course, no explosives were found. However, there was one explosive discovery waiting to be made at the home of the suspect.
Using jail records to find the suspect’s home, authorities visited the Lakeview area and made contact with Patnou. The release states he answered the door intoxicated and naked. His phone had a record of where he had called the jail’s number. To be certain, the jail dialed the number while the deputy was with the suspect and sure enough, his phone rang.
Patnou was arrested and taken to the detention center to be charged with Falsely Communicating a Terroristic Threat, a class B felony.
He’s being held in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
