The website DownDetector.com showed spikes in the normal amount of issues for Verizon just before 8 AM. Outage.Report reports around 8 AM was when reports showed an issue.

Cities with service outages included Jonesboro, Fort Smith, Bentonville, Van Buren, Eureka Springs, Wynne, and more. Most reported call service down but many also reported that everything was down, too.

One person who works for a wireless company posted in NEA Report News Tips he had heard a fiber optic line was cut but we have no confirmation. Verizon confirmed this in a statement to KAIT, saying vandalism contributed to the fiber optic damage.

It is unclear how many customers were being affected.

Verizon released a statement to KFSM acknowledging the issue in Northwest Arkansas, which may be related. They said they were working on it.

At 5:30 PM, Verizon issued a statement that the issue was resolved.
