JONESBORO, Ark. – Whoever the suspects are in this case, they seem to be not only crooked but desperate.
Last week in Jonesboro, for at least the second time, a report was taken where a scammer tried getting money by threatening murder. A woman said someone had been sending messages to her phone, repeatedly. She would block the number (425-559-7489) but that the person would text her from other numbers in the same area code with the same types of messages.
The suspect sent her an address in the Dominican Republic to send the money to. There were no known suspects in the case.
Back in March, a similar incident was reported to police where a man was told a contract was placed for his murder. He was told he could escape the contract by making a deal with the scammer.
