JONESBORO, Ark. — A man accused of striking a woman at a party Oct. 18, leaving her with a skull fracture, was arrested three days later in Osceola, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Jamariun Tyreek Taylor faces an allegation of second-degree domestic battering, listed in his first-appearance paperwork as a Class B felony. On Oct. 23, Special Judge Ralph Wilson set his bond at $75,000 cash or surety and required electronic monitoring and no contact with the woman.
Officers were dispatched to a local emergency room about 4:50 a.m. Oct. 18 after the reported assault. They found the woman lying in a hospital bed wearing a neck brace, with blood coming from her nose and a deep cut on her forehead, according to the affidavit.
The cut later required three stitches. The affidavit says medical personnel told the woman she had a skull fracture directly behind the cut.
The woman told officers she and Taylor had previously been in a romantic relationship but had separated. She said Taylor followed her to several areas at the party while calling her derogatory names.
According to her account in the affidavit, she turned around and pushed Taylor away with one arm, and he then struck her in the face. She told officers she believed she lost consciousness after the first strike.
The woman reported a fracture involving her nasal cavity and a possible broken nose. The affidavit states she would need surgery.
A complainant also told officers she had been informed that Taylor arrived at the party, harassed the woman and later struck her.
Detective Luke Lane wrote in the affidavit that the statements and documented injuries established probable cause for Taylor’s arrest. A warrant was issued, and the Fugitive Task Force arrested him in Osceola on Oct. 21, according to the affidavit.
His next court appearance is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Dec. 16 at the Craighead County Courthouse in Jonesboro, according to his first-appearance paperwork.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
