JONESBORO, Ark. — Arkansas State University will host its free Halloween Art Bash and trunk-or-treat from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at Windgate Hall of Art and Innovation.
The event is open to the public and will include a haunted house in the building’s new gallery, art activities, student-created displays and Halloween treats. Attendees are encouraged to wear costumes.
A-State’s Art + Design department and College of Engineering and Computer Science are organizing the festivities together, with other campus groups contributing exhibits and activities.
“We will have featured wall pieces and decorations displaying students’ talents and collaboration. The computer science students have also 3D-printed giveaways for attendees. Further, we will have interactive inflatables produced by art students, with one you can even walk into,” said Caitlan Smith, an art history instructor.
Visitors will be able to see X-rays designed by radiology students for Spooky Lab, vintage Halloween postcards from the 19th and 20th centuries from the Arkansas State Museum’s collection, and animal skeletons from the College of Veterinary Medicine. Fortune-telling is also planned.
Arts and crafts activities will include painting rock monsters, coloring pages and face painting. The first 50 guests will be able to paint tote bags.
Martha Molina, the Bradbury Art Museum’s visiting Día de los Muertos artist, will help guests make paper flowers.
Younger visitors can collect candy, temporary tattoos and buttons during the trunk-or-treat.
