One dead in Jonesboro truck/train collision

JONESBORO, Ark. – The driver of a semi-truck in Jonesboro died Tuesday evening after an accident with a train.

At 8:15 PM Tuesday, March 19, Jonesboro Police, Craighead County Sheriff’s Department, OEM and Jonesboro Fire responded to the scene of a train/ semi accident in south Jonesboro.

Dispatch was notified of the wreck that occurred at the 5300 block of east Nettleton. The semi-tractor-trailer appeared to be traveling south on Nettleton. JPD said it then tried to make a left hand turn on Nestle Road when it was struck by a Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) train, traveling south.

The driver of the semi was killed in the accident.

No other injuries were reported.
