JPD responds to bomb threat at apartment

On Sunday, September 9, 2018 Officers with the Jonesboro Police Department received a call about a person that had barricaded themselves in their apartment. At approximately 10:00 am Officers were called to 401 Garden Manor in response to a bomb threat.

Once there officers learned that a 29 year old Mason Gott had claimed that he had a bomb and wished to harm himself and others with the explosive. Responding officers worked to evacuate residents from the area and then called members of the Jonesboro Police Department S.W.A.T. team and Crisis Negotiation Team to the scene.

At 12:30 pm Mason Gott surrendered to the custody of the Crisis Negotiation Team and he was taken to a local hospital to for a mental health screening and assistance.

There were no injuries sustained during the incident. At this time there has been no explosive device located.
