JONESBORO, Ark. – A tragic wreck late Sunday in Jonesboro claimed the life of a local woman.
Kenya Smith, 26, of Jonesboro, passed away from the wreck, according to the incident report by Arkansas State Police and provided to us by Jonesboro police. At 11:20 PM, a 2001 Pontiac was traveling northbound on Highway 1B. At the intersection of Harrisburg Road and Lake Wood Drive, the accident occurred with a 2015 Jeep Cherokee in the southbound lane, driven by Nancy Arnold, 30, of Jonesboro.
A total of four people, including Arnold, were injured in the accident. Three other injured passengers, including a minor, were in the Pontiac.
Conditions were rainy and wet at the time of the accident, following a day of scattered severe storms across NEA.
The mother of the deceased driver was notified at 1:40 AM, police reported.
