Suspects cash 2-grand in forged checks

JONESBORO, Ark. – A grocery chain became the victim when suspects forged payroll checks from a local hospital.

Jonesboro Police Department got the report Monday, when management from Hay’s Grocery on Gee Street in Jonesboro notified police of four payroll checks which were fraudulent.

According to the report, the grocery store, which will cash payroll checks, cashed the four documents from Baptist Memorial Healthcare on Oct. 14 and Oct. 17.

However, the checks were stolen and forged.

The grocery store provided police with security camera footage of three females and a male involved in the suspected crime. All four were unnamed in the initial report – but the report did say they were from Mississippi.

The case was assigned to a JPD detective Tuesday for investigation.
