Robber ambushes woman in backseat of her car

JONESBORO, Ark. – While a woman got out of the vehicle to check her mail Monday night, a stealthy suspect snuck into the back of her SUV and robbed her.

The scary situation took place Monday night at around 10:30 p.m. at 1308 Links Drive. Officers were dispatched to an armed robbery in progress. When they arrived, a female victim, 23, said she had gotten out of her vehicle to get her mail and when she returned, the nightmare scenario unfolded.

Once she returned from the mailbox, the victim began to back up when someone from the backseat said, “Give me all your money and belongings and you will not get hurt,” the incident report reads.

The suspect was described by the victim as a black male, about 5’9″ and 150 pounds, with a white shirt on and blue jeans. He either had his hair pulled back or had a ball cap on – the victim could not accurately tell. However, she also was not willing to be easy prey.

The victim described to officers how she refused to give the man her $1,200 Louis Vuitton purse and tried grabbing her pepper spray before the man grabbed her wrist and motioned as though he had a weapon. The suspect stole the purse, $270, and a Macy’s and Farmer’s cards.

Officers deployed a K9 to track but recent rain impeded the search. However, a set of latent prints on the vehicle were located, one of which is being sent to the crime lab for analysis.

Police continue the investigation but the suspect faces at least three felony charges included aggravated robbery, purse snatching/theft over $1,000, and theft of property/credit cards.
