Woman Arrested After Brawl Leads to Shooting in Paragould

PARAGOULD, Ark. – A suspect faces felony charges after an altercation with a firearm recently in Paragould.

On April 18, 2024, Paragould officers were dispatched to a residence in reference to an altercation involving an individual being injured with a firearm, according to the probable cause affidavit. Officers arrived and contained the situation, rendering aid to the victim until an ambulance arrived.

Officers learned of a large brawl in the street consisting of more than ten adults and juveniles. Officers detained the potential suspects, identified as the shooter by multiple individuals on scene, the affidavit states.

Detectives processed the scene, noting eight shell casings in the street where the shooting had taken place. Police spoke to another witness who corroborated what officers had been told.

The suspect was interviewed by police and according to the affidavit, waived her right to an attorney during questioning. She allegedly made incriminating statements during the interview.

Mariemma Johnson, 30, of Paragould, is being charged with one count of first degree battery, a class B felony, and eight counts of aggravated assault, a class D felony.
