Task Force Arrests Man After Intercepting Drugs Through Mail

PARAGOULD, Ark. – A package of drugs intercepted in the mail has led to felony charges for a Paragould man.

On May 7, 2024, agents with the Second Judicial District Drug Task Force intercepted a package that held close to ten pounds of marijuana, the probable cause affidavit says. The package was being shipped to an address on Lonnie Lane in Paragould. Agents then delivered the package and left it on the front porch.

The affidavit says a short time later, a white male later identified as Brian Daniel Shipley took the package and placed it in a vehicle that he was driving.

Agents then executed a search warrant on the vehicle and the residence. They reported finding 24.8 pounds of marijuana, 797 packs of THC gummies, 166.1 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, baggies, a money counter, a vacuum sealer, three hydrocodone pills, two handguns, a handheld .223 rifle, three sets of digital scales and several other items of paraphernalia.

Brian Daniel Shipley, 26, of Paragould, is being charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule VI substance with purpose to deliver (2 counts; a Class C felony)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (a Class D felony)
  • Possession of a Schedule I or II substance, not meth/fentanyl/heroin/cocaine with purpose to deliver (2 counts; a Class A felony)
  • Weapons possession during controlled substance offenses (Class Y felony)
  • Controlled substances – offenses relating to records, maintaining premises, etc. (Class C felony)

Jail records show a $100,000 bond set for Shipley, which was posted Thursday evening.
