Names released in fatal Clay County wreck

CLAY COUNTY, Ark. – A horrible traffic accident claimed the life of two Clay County residents on July 16.

The names of the two victims were released Wednesday.

Tracy Tippitt, 43, of Piggott, and Christopher Smith, 25, of Rector, were killed in a brutal car accident which happened just before 2:30 p.m. July 16 on Clay County Road 534. The 2000 Hyundai car the two were riding in was traveling eastbound, according to the ASP report, when it lost control and struck a bridge.

The vehicle rolled over, bursting into flames, nearby witnesses said.

The two victims died at the scene of the accident. Police had difficulty identifying who was the driver and passenger because of the fire.
