Threat on Nettleton school bus determined unfounded

JONESBORO, Ark. – A Nettleton Public Schools bus was delayed on the drive home Thursday because of the threat of a child having a gun on the school bus.

It was determined to be an unfounded threat, the school said.

But for some parents, it was the second time this week police have been involved with Nettleton students in a tense situation that turned out to be nothing – according to those in charge.

At 4:02 PM, school administrators posted this message:

JPD’s Public Information Specialist Sally Smith responded promptly to our inquiry shortly after 5 PM, confirming there was a search on the bus but that nothing was found.

“The officer did an extensive search and did not find anything,” Smith said.

No arrests were made in the incident. It is not clear how police were alerted to the possible threat.
