Pedestrian Killed on I-40 in Crittenden County

Ross Caronna Jr. of Independence, Louisiana, was killed Aug. 22, 2026, after being struck on I-40 westbound near mile marker 279 in Crittenden County, according to a preliminary Arkansas State Police summary.

MARION, Ark. — A preliminary Arkansas State Police summary says Ross Caronna Jr. of Independence, Louisiana, was killed Aug. 22, 2026, after being struck on Interstate 40 westbound near mile marker 279.

Arkansas State Police said Caronna was walking south on the highway when a 2023 Chevrolet Traverse traveling westbound struck him at 12:30 a.m.

The summary lists the weather as clear and the road as dry. Trooper Dylan Evans, 178, is listed as the investigating officer in the Arkansas State Police summary, which is preliminary and not a final finding of fault.

Arkansas State Police reported no other injuries.
