JONESBORO, Ark. — A woman faces drug possession charges in the Jonesboro hotel overdose investigation that also led to a death-by-delivery charge against another person, according to probable cause affidavits.
Jonesboro police responded to the Comfort Inn on Phillips Drive on Sept. 27 and found firefighters performing lifesaving measures on a man. He later died at a hospital, police said. The affidavits do not establish his cause of death.
Witnesses told police the man had been staying in the room with Ashlyn Renee Blevins, who left before officers arrived, according to her affidavit. Police said Blevins called 911 at about 7:36 a.m. but disconnected. When dispatch called her back, she said she was OK and did not need assistance.
An officer reported finding about 1 gram of suspected fentanyl, a straw with suspected fentanyl residue, suspected methamphetamine residue and several prescription pills in the room. Police later located Blevins in Brookland. According to the affidavit, she told investigators she had seen someone bring fentanyl and methamphetamine into the room and had inhaled both drugs.
Blevins faces a Class C felony charge of possession of fentanyl and a Class D felony charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $50,000 cash or surety.
In a separate affidavit bearing the same police case number, investigators accused Frank D. Flanagan of supplying drugs to the man who died. Flanagan faces a first-degree death-by-delivery charge, a Class Y felony. His bond was set at $250,000.
The documents do not accuse Blevins of causing the man’s death. Both cases are pending, and the allegations have not been proven in court.
