PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould resident faces a felony charge after allegedly choking a household member during an argument, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Greene County District Court.
Treginal Jones faces one count of aggravated assault on a family or household member, a Class D felony.
Police responded July 25 to a residence following a report of a domestic disturbance.
The victim told officers that Jones choked them during an argument, restricting their airflow. The victim reportedly required a substantial amount of time to recover.
A witness told police the victim appeared to go limp during the alleged assault. Several family members provided similar accounts, according to the affidavit.
Officers also documented red marks on the victim’s neck that they said were consistent with choking.
District Judge Curtis Hitt found probable cause and issued an arrest warrant July 26. Jones’ bond was set at $100,000 surety.
If released, Jones must wear an ankle monitor, have no contact with the victim or witnesses and possess no weapons.
Jones is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
