Police: Cash, Change Stolen During Jonesboro Burglary, Man Arrested

JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro suspect was arrested after police investigated a business break-in in which about $700 in cash and change, along with a DVR valued at about $600, were reported stolen.

Christopher Michael Nearn, 41, was arrested on charges of breaking or entering, theft and tampering with evidence, all Class D felonies.

According to the affidavit, Jonesboro police took a report on April 11 from a business in the 500 block of Gee Street regarding a breaking or entering that occurred overnight. The victim reported that about $700 in cash and change had been stolen, along with the DVR.

The victim also told police the same vehicle had been seen at his business on the night of the previous break-in.

Investigators reviewed surveillance footage and said it showed a male arriving at the business in a red passenger car and stopping near a door that accesses the cash machines and the area where the DVR was stored. Police said the male was later seen exiting the vehicle, then returning to place items in the passenger seat before quickly leaving the scene.

According to the affidavit, the victim identified the male and vehicle from photos he provided to police. Investigators said ACIC information helped identify the suspect as Nearn, who had been arrested out of the same vehicle on April 12, 2026.

Judge Barbara Halsey set Nearn’s bail at $125,000 cash or surety and ordered him to wear an ankle monitor.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
