Jonesboro Parolee Arrested After Officers Report Finding Shotgun, Pills During Search

JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro parolee was arrested April 15 after parole officers reported finding a shotgun, suspected alprazolam pills and evidence of drug sales during a search of his home.

Willis Larkin Kilpatrick was arrested on charges of possession of a Schedule IV or V controlled substance with purpose to deliver, possession of a firearm by certain persons and use of a communication device.

According to the report, parole officers took Kilpatrick into custody around 2 p.m. for parole violations at the parole office before taking him to his residence on Puryear Street to conduct a search.

During that search, officers reported finding a 20-gauge shotgun hanging on a wall in a room considered a storage room. The shotgun was loaded with three yellow shotgun shells, according to the report. Officers said Kilpatrick is prohibited from possessing firearms because he is on parole and has a felony conviction.

In Kilpatrick’s bedroom, officers reported finding an unlabeled pill bottle inside a nightstand. The bottle contained 20 peach pills labeled R029, which were suspected to be 0.5 milligram alprazolam, according to the report.

Officers also reported finding messages on Kilpatrick’s phone that they said referenced “peaches,” which the report described as a term for the peach-colored alprazolam pills found in the bottle.

Kilpatrick was booked on charges of possession of a Schedule IV or V controlled substance with purpose to deliver, a Class D felony; possession of a firearm by certain persons, a Class D felony; and use of a communication device, a Class C felony.

Special Judge Barbara Halsey set Kilpatrick’s bail at $100,000 cash or surety. His next court date is May 18.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
