Suspect Accused of Kicking In Apartment Door, Stealing Speaker During Domestic Disturbance Arrested

JONESBORO, Ark. — A 19-year-old Jonesboro suspect was arrested after police say he kicked in an apartment door during a domestic disturbance and stole a Bluetooth speaker.

Monti Kelsey Decoy Liggins, 19, of Jonesboro, was arrested on allegations of aggravated residential burglary, a Class Y felony; first-degree criminal mischief; and misdemeanor theft.

According to the affidavit, officers responded April 5, 2026, to a residence on Links Circle regarding a domestic disturbance in progress.

When officers arrived, they determined Liggins had kicked the door open and stolen items from the apartment.

The alleged victim told police she and another witness were staying at the apartment when her ex-boyfriend, Liggins, arrived without being invited. She said she asked him to leave several times over the course of about an hour, but he refused.

The alleged victim said she locked the door behind him after advising him to leave. She told police that Liggins then knocked while she covered the peephole. The victim and witness both said they began hearing banging before Liggins forced the front door open, splitting the door frame, according to the affidavit.

Once inside, Liggins allegedly tried to take the victim’s cellphone. After failing to take the phone, police said he took a Bluetooth party speaker belonging to the homeowner, valued at about $100.

Police said officers observed physical damage to the front door and frame that was consistent with the victim’s and the witness’s accounts of forced entry.

Court records state a bench warrant for Liggins was issued on April 7, 2026. He was later arrested on that warrant and taken to the Craighead County Detention Center on April 13, 2026.

Liggins’ bail was set at $40,000 cash or surety by Judge David Boling. His next court date is May 18.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
