Man Accused of Threatening Woman, Refusing to Leave Browns Lane Home

JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro suspect was arrested April 2 after police said he threatened a woman, refused to leave her home and was later found with marijuana.

Tarvon Delshown Chalmers, 25, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening, a Class D felony, along with misdemeanor counts of criminal trespass and possession, according to a probable cause affidavit from the Jonesboro Police Department.

Chalmers also was being held on a parole violation.

According to the affidavit, officers responded to Browns Lane Access to speak with someone about a suspect who was threatening a woman and refusing to leave her residence.

The victim told police she had met Chalmers on Facebook back in July and that they were just friends. She said Chalmers had gotten into an argument with people he had been staying with and no longer had a place to stay, so she allowed him to stay the night at her residence and later bought him a hotel room.

The victim told officers that when she refused to continue helping Chalmers, he became upset and told her she needed to pay him $100 to leave or he would break all of her property in the house, according to the affidavit.

Police said the victim also reported that Chalmers told her he was going to shoot her and her family, beat her and leave her bloody in front of her young child.

According to the affidavit, the victim left the residence to take her child to school and called police after arriving at work because she was afraid to go home and believed Chalmers would hurt her.

When officers went to the residence, they found Chalmers sitting on a couch. Police said there was a small duffel bag by the door containing belongings they identified as his. As officers began arresting him, Chalmers got up and grabbed the bag after yelling, “I’M LEAVING,” according to the affidavit.

After Chalmers was booked, the Craighead County Detention Center notified officers that a bag of marijuana had been found in his possession, and an additional possession charge was added, the affidavit said.

Chalmers’ next court date is May 18. Bail was set at $15,000 cash or surety, and a no-contact order was put in place.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
