JONESBORO, Ark. — A 22-year-old Jonesboro male faces three charges after gunfire reportedly struck residences and vehicles near Fox Meadow Lane.
Jametrius Jaquan Thomas was arrested Sunday, Aug. 10, on charges of a terroristic act involving an occupiable structure, a Class B felony; possession of a firearm by certain persons, a Class D felony; and violation of a no-contact order.
Jonesboro police responded to the Fox Meadow Lane area July 26 after receiving a report of shots fired, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The victim reported that a white SUV, described as a Yukon or Tahoe, entered an apartment complex and a male exited the vehicle. After the victim confronted the occupants and told them to leave, the SUV departed.
A short time later, the same vehicle traveled west on Fox Meadow Lane as the victim heard multiple gunshots coming from the roadway, the affidavit said.
Officers recovered three spent shell casings from the roadway directly in front of the residence. Investigators also discovered multiple bullet strikes to residences and vehicles in the area.
During a recorded interview July 31, a witness identified Thomas as being involved in the events immediately preceding the shooting. The witness reportedly said Thomas had been dropped off by an off-white Chevrolet Tahoe and was confronted by the victim.
The witness said Thomas left but returned moments later in the same Tahoe. The witness then heard several gunshots coming from the direction of Fox Meadow Lane, according to the affidavit.
Investigators said video and audio footage obtained from the scene corroborated the witness’s account.
Thomas was arrested at his residence Aug. 10. Police reported finding him with a 9 mm Glock handgun. The affidavit states Thomas has prior felony convictions and was also found with a person protected by an active no-contact order issued July 20.
District Judge David Boling set Thomas’ bond at $150,000 cash or surety. The court noted that Thomas was on probation and had multiple prior felony arrests involving violent crimes.
His next court appearance is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Sept. 30 at the Craighead County Courthouse.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
