Jonesboro Suspect Arrested After Allegedly Attempting to Strike Man With Vehicle at A-State

JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro suspect was arrested Friday after police say she attempted to strike a man with a vehicle during a dispute near Arkansas State University.

According to a probable cause affidavit from the Arkansas State University Police Department, on Feb. 27, 2026, officers were dispatched around 6:29 p.m. to a parking lot on Cherokee Street in reference to an aggravated domestic assault involving a vehicle. Officers arrived and located two individuals.

Investigators identified the suspect as Jessica Lakia Walker, 21, of Jonesboro.

Police said Walker and the alleged victim became involved in a verbal altercation after Walker came to campus to drop off a friend at a residence. During the argument, the alleged victim threw a cup of water on Walker.

According to the affidavit, Walker then got into her vehicle and drove toward the alleged victim. The alleged victim told officers he moved out of the way as Walker attempted to strike him with the vehicle.

Investigators said an off-duty Pine Bluff police officer and another officer witnessed the encounter and contacted dispatch to report the incident.

Officers also reviewed Arkansas State University security camera footage, which investigators say showed Walker’s vehicle stop in the roadway before the alleged victim exited a nearby residence. According to the affidavit, Walker then placed the vehicle in reverse and backed up toward the alleged victim in an apparent attempt to strike him before leaving the area.

Walker later returned to the parking lot, where officers placed her under arrest.

Walker was arrested for aggravated assault on a family or household member, a Class D felony. She was transported to the Craighead County Detention Center.

Her bail was set at $10,000 cash or surety, and a no-contact order was issued.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
