Paragould Suspect Arrested After Alleged Domestic Assault, Threats Against Victim and Officers

JONESBORO, Ark. — A Paragould suspect was arrested Feb. 28, 2026, after officers responded to a reported domestic disturbance in the 1400 block of Lakewood Drive, according to a Jonesboro Police Department probable cause affidavit.

Officers were dispatched Saturday morning regarding a disturbance involving Marcus Taylor, 26, and the alleged victim, who police said had been in a dating relationship since 2015.

According to the affidavit, the alleged victim reported that during a verbal altercation, Taylor began striking her multiple times with closed fists and shoved her with enough force to knock her to the ground. She sustained a cut to her hand after falling and breaking glass on the floor.

The victim told officers she advised Taylor she could not recall his exact words but said he told her not to let him get his hands on her and made statements implying he was going to kill her. She stated she was in fear for her life and went outside the apartment to have a neighbor contact law enforcement.

Police said Taylor also made verbal threats toward responding officers. According to the affidavit, Taylor told one officer that he would shoot and kill him, his wife and his children. Later, while at the hospital, Taylor allegedly told another officer, “I’ll have inmates hire people to beat your family and you up outside the cops,” or words to that effect.

Officers observed injuries including a laceration to the right hand and bruising to the left side of the victim’s face, according to the affidavit.

Based on the victim’s statements, observed injuries, the history of the dating relationship and the alleged threats, officers determined probable cause existed for the listed offenses.

Taylor was arrested on charges of third-degree domestic battery and second-degree terroristic threatening, both misdemeanors, and first-degree terroristic threatening, a Class D felony.

Bail was set at $75,000 cash or surety with a no-contact order. His next court date is April 23.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
