JONESBORO, Ark. — Three suspects were arrested after a disturbance involving multiple weapons March 3 at a business in the 500 block of North Culberhouse.
According to affidavits, Jonesboro officers were dispatched to the location in reference to a disturbance with weapons and located multiple subjects upon arrival.
Investigators determined the incident involved Jay Thomas, Jessie Thomas, and Toasha Thomas, along with multiple victims during the confrontation.
Police said Jay Thomas had been involved in an altercation earlier in the day at the same location. Officers were advised Thomas shot at another party’s vehicle with a shotgun. Detectives located evidence on the victim’s vehicle supporting the statement and additional evidence at the scene. A witness also provided a similar account of the incident.
Thomas was arrested on charges of terroristic act – occupiable structure, a Class B felony; possession of a firearm by certain persons with a prior violent felony involving a deadly weapon and firearm used in another crime, a Class B felony; and aggravated assault, a Class D felony.
During the disturbance, investigators said Toasha Thomas became involved in a physical altercation with another female at the business. According to the affidavit, the alleged victim told officers Toasha Thomas produced a golf club during the fight and struck her once, causing a cut on her hand when the object broke. Detectives documented several injuries consistent with the statements and collected evidence at the scene. Witnesses provided similar statements, and Thomas admitted to being involved in the altercation and producing the golf club.
Toasha Thomas was arrested on charges of second-degree domestic battering causing physical injury, a Class C felony, and aggravated assault, a Class D felony.
During the same incident, officers were advised Jessie Thomas and another female were involved in an altercation at the location. According to the affidavit, Jessie Thomas produced a firearm from her purse during the fight and struck the victim in the face with it. The victim reported grabbing the firearm and knocking it away before a witness recovered it. Detectives documented injuries consistent with the statements and recovered the firearm at the scene. Investigators said Jessie Thomas admitted to being involved in the altercation and possessing the firearm.
Jessie Thomas was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by certain persons.
Court records show bail for Jessie Thomas and Toasha Thomas was set at $75,000 cash or surety, while bail for Jay Thomas was set at $250,000 cash or surety.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
