JONESBORO, Ark. — A suspect was arrested Friday, Feb. 27, 2026, after officers responded to a reported breaking or entering in progress on Russell Drive, according to a Jonesboro Police Department probable cause affidavit.
When officers arrived, they found the victim had already detained the suspect, identified as Jailen Bernard Billington, 21, in a nearby parking lot.
According to the affidavit, the victim reported discovering Billington sitting in the passenger seat of his vehicle. Although Billington attempted to flee on foot, the victim pursued and held him until law enforcement arrived.
Officers observed fresh damage to the front passenger door and jamb, confirming the victim’s report of forced entry, the affidavit states.
Police noted the vehicle’s center console appeared to have been searched, though the victim reported only loose change was missing. During a search, officers recovered $1.77 in coins from the front pocket of Billington’s sweatshirt.
A review of Billington’s criminal record revealed a prior conviction for theft of services dated June 24, 2024, according to the affidavit.
Billington was arrested on charges of breaking or entering, theft of property $1,000 or less, second offense, both Class D felonies, and first-degree criminal mischief.
Bail was set at $35,000 cash or surety. His next court date is April 23.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
