Suspect Arrested After Three Injured in Paragould Domestic Violence Incident

PARAGOULD, Ark. — A suspect was arrested after three people were injured during a domestic violence incident at a residence in Paragould.

Derek J. Aunspaugh, 26, of Paragould, was arrested on suspicion of three counts of second-degree domestic battering, Class C felonies, and second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, a Class A misdemeanor.

According to the Paragould Police Department, officers responded on Monday, Feb. 23, 2026, to a residence on East Emerson Street regarding a domestic violence incident. Officers made contact with the potential defendant, identified as Joseph Aunspaugh, who was covered in blood but did not appear to be injured. Officers learned that two victims inside the home had reportedly suffered serious injuries after being attacked.

Police said their investigation determined the potential defendant was also injured during the altercation and had a small cut.

An 8-year-old child was present and witnessed the incident, according to the report.

The three victims were transported to a local hospital for further evaluation of their injuries.

Aunspaugh was taken into custody and transported to the Greene County Detention Center.

Information about bond was not immediately available.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
