JONESBORO — A defendant appearing remotely from the county jail was given 30 days for contempt after cursing during a bond hearing Monday.
Patrick Reece Moody, 38, appeared via Zoom for an 8.1 hearing on a charge of possession of meth less than 2 grams. Judge David Boling set Moody’s bail at $100,000 cash or surety, noting Moody pled guilty in a case in April 2025.
Moody became upset and responded that he had only been “smoking dope,” adding an F-word expletive during the hearing.
Judge Boling immediately ordered Moody back on the Zoom feed and sentenced him to 30 days in the county jail for contempt of court.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on November 16, 2025, officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for no license plate illumination. All occupants of the vehicle were on probation. One of the passengers was arrested for giving a false name.
Police reported finding no illegal items in the vehicle or the occupants. However, they decided to take Moody back ot his home to conduct a probation search. During that, police reported finding a small amount of meth and several items of drug paraphernalia, including a glass meth pipe.
He was arrested for possession of meth and drug paraphernalia, both felonies.
Moody’s next court date is Dec. 16.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
