Paragould Man Accused of Stealing and Pawning Firearms

JONESBORO, Ark. — A Paragould man is accused of stealing three firearms and pawning one of them at a local shop, according to a probable cause affidavit released Sept. 25.

On Sept. 19, Paragould officers took a theft report involving three guns. The victim told police he suspected Jonathon Wright, 21, had taken them. The stolen firearms were identified as a Smith & Wesson AR-15, a Smith & Wesson .40-caliber pistol, and a Diamondback 9mm pistol.

Investigators later discovered that on Sept. 24, Wright had sold the AR-15 to SDM Pawn, located at 801 S. Second Ave. Wright agreed to an interview at the police department, where officers say he made self-incriminating statements after being read his Miranda rights.

Wright faces three counts of theft of property, all Class D felonies.

Judge Dan Stidham set Wright’s bail at $30,000 cash or surety. Court records show conditions include a no-contact order and that Wright must wear an ankle monitor if bail is met.

Note: The spelling on the PC affidavit is “Jonathon”

All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
