UPDATE:
The mother of a 3-year-old boy shared this video with NEA Report, saying it shows a Jonesboro daycare owner striking her son with a ruler.
“For the people in the comments saying, ‘what did the kid do?’ — what 3-year-old or ANY child deserves this?” she wrote. “We were not notified of any incident that would’ve made her do him like this until AFTER we received this video. I’m just going to say this, if a child brings you to this much anger, FIND ANOTHER PROFESSION.”

JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro daycare owner is accused of beating a 3-year-old boy with a ruler, according to court records.
Khalilah Shaunte Parks, 47, faces a charge of second-degree battery involving injury to a child under 12, a Class D felony.
A probable cause affidavit says the child’s mother contacted Jonesboro police on June 23 after an employee at the daycare recorded a video of the incident and sent it to her. The daycare, located at 1220 Stone Street, is owned by Parks.
The video allegedly shows Parks lifting a ruler over her head and striking the child multiple times. The mother told police her son had a bruise on his left thigh consistent with the width of a ruler and about six days old.
In a Mirandized interview, Parks confirmed she was the person in the video with the child, according to the affidavit.
Special Judge Ralph Wilson set Parks’ bail at $15,000 cash or surety with a no-contact order. Her next court date is scheduled for Oct. 30.
All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
