Man Accused of Firing Gun During Disturbance in Paragould

PARAGOULD, Ark. — A 47-year-old Paragould man has been accused of firing a gun during a disturbance at a residence, according to a probable cause affidavit.

On Aug. 31, 2025, officers were dispatched to a home in Paragould in reference to a disturbance. When they arrived, officers were told that John Elliott had discharged a firearm at a male victim.

Police said Elliott, who was intoxicated, admitted to firing the gun because he was upset that the man was speaking with his wife. Officers reported finding a shell casing in the area where Elliott was alleged to have fired the weapon.

Elliott faces a charge of aggravated assault, a Class D felony. His bail was set at $10,000 cash only.

Court records also show that a no-contact order and an ankle monitor requirement were imposed.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
