Man Faces Felonies for Allegedly Aiming Flare Gun At Person in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, Ark. — An unusual aggravated assault case was detailed in a probable cause affidavit released this week in Jonesboro.

On August 30, 2025, JPD responded to a report from an alleged victim who said his neighbor, Nathan Randy Ballew, 39, had pointed a flare gun at him and threatened to kill him.

The incident was reported at an apartment complex near 500 N. Caraway Road. According to the victim, the suspect was on a bicycle.

An officer located Ballew from a matching description. They found him with an orange flare gun that had a live round in it, ready to fire.

The affidavit alleges that Ballew admitted to pointing the flare gun at the victim.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
