Skid Steer Scheme: Two Arrested in $45K Home Depot Theft Case

JONESBORO, Ark. — Two people are facing felony charges in connection with the alleged theft of a $45,000 piece of property from Home Depot, but one of the suspects is trying to take the blame.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on May 16, 2025, Tyronza Allen, 26, rented a skid steer with a trailer from Home Depot valued at $45,048.93. Allen provided her driver’s license and other personal information to Home Depot. Video footage reviewed by police showed Allen and Adrian Jackson, 41, present during the rental.

The equipment was rented for one day but was not returned. As of August 21, 2025, the equipment had still not been returned. Its whereabouts are currently unknown to the police.

A bench warrant was issued for Allen, who was the first to be arrested in this case.

Then, Jackson came to the police department and told authorities he had Allen rent the skid steer, and then he took it and sold it for $4,000, his affidavit says. Jackson claimed that Allen had no knowledge of what he planned to do with the skid steer and said he needed money. Jackson was then arrested, as well.

Allen and Jackson both face a Class B felony charge of theft of leased or rented property. Bail was set for Allen at $75,000 cash or surety on Monday by Judge Tommy Fowler. Jackson’s bail was set at $25,000 cash or surety on Wednesday by Judge David Boling.

Both are next due in court on October 30.

Jackson was previously arrested in June in Jonesboro for allegedly stealing and selling equipment from Home Depot. In that probable cause affidavit, on June 10, an officer was approached by a person who inquired if a trailer they purchased was stolen. The officer found that the trailer and mini-excavator had been rented from Home Depot in Memphis and were due to be returned on June 8.

The victim told police he bought the trailer and mini-excavator for $5,000 in cash and traded his 2007 Chevy Tahoe as part of the deal. The victim took a photo of Jackson’s identification and provided it to the police.

Jackson was already in custody at Craighead County Detention Center on June 19 when police visited him. They read him his rights, and he agreed to speak, reportedly confessing to renting the equipment and selling it to the victim for cash and a Tahoe, which he gave to his brother. The Tahoe was located and recovered. In that case, he faces Class D felonies for theft of a vehicle and theft, $5,000 or less. Bail was $25,000 cash or surety, with Judge Fowler noting at the time a history of theft.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
