JONESBORO, Ark. — A $1 million bond was set for a Jonesboro man accused of rape on Wednesday in district court.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on July 23, 2025, JPD officers took a report of a sexual assault in Jonesboro. The alleged victim said that Cecil Lindley had sex with her while she was sleeping the previous evening.
On July 24, police interviewed a witness who said he saw Lindley on top of the victim having intercourse. He stated that he was asked several times to have a threesome with them, but refused. The next morning, Lindley exited the bedroom and allegedly told the witness he had to do “both parts” since the witness would not participate.
On July 25, police spoke to the victim. She said she woke up with no shorts on and questioned Lindley. She said he told her he had sex with her.
On August 5, Lindley was interviewed at the police station. He was read his Miranda rights and agreed to speak, police said. Officers reported he said he went to the victim’s residence while there, had sex multiple times with her throughout the night. He said that after the victim went to bed, he removed her clothing and continued sexual activity to wake her up. She didn’t respond. He stated he thought she was awake even though she wasn’t moving or talking during intercourse.
Cecil Ray Lindley, 60, of Jonesboro, was arrested for rape, a class Y felony punishable by 10 to 40 years or life in prison.
On August 6, Judge David Boling set bail at $1 million cash or surety with a GPS ankle monitor ordered if he makes bail, along with a no-contact order. The judge’s notes say that the defendant pled guilty to domestic battery in July 2024, receiving a 60-month suspended sentence. There are other previous domestic charges, with the judge noting the same victim in some of the previous cases.
His next court date in this case is Sept. 30, 2025.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
