PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Marmaduke man is facing felony charges after police say he intentionally struck another vehicle and ran it off the road during a disturbance last week.
On July 20, officers with the Paragould Police Department were dispatched to the area of 2625 W. Kingshighway after receiving a report of a disturbance involving two vehicles. According to the probable cause affidavit, officers spoke with the alleged victim, who said Jacob Johnston, 29, had purposely struck their vehicle with his own, forcing it off the roadway near Wallcott Road.
The victim said the impact caused significant damage to their vehicle. Officers later located Johnston and conducted a traffic stop. The affidavit states that police observed damage to Johnston’s vehicle that was consistent with the damage reported by the victim.
Johnston was arrested and transported to the police department for questioning. Police say that during a Mirandaized interview, Johnston made self-incriminating statements.
He is charged with aggravated assault and first-degree criminal mischief, both Class D felonies.
Judge Dan Stidham set bail at $10,000 cash-only. Johnston was also ordered to wear an ankle monitor and have no contact with the victim.
All suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
