Paragould Man Arrested for Shoplifting, Faces Felony and Misdemeanor Charges

PARAGOULD, Ark. — A man who was already banned from the property of a business in Paragould is accused of returning with ill intentions, and now faces felony and misdemeanor charges.

On March 26, officers from the Paragould Police Department responded to Walmart at 2802 W. Kingshighway about a shoplifter. Loss prevention employees told officers they witnessed the defendant purposely select and conceal merchandise, the probable cause affidavit said.

Employees stated that the defendant exited the store with the unpaid products before he was stopped. Officers recovered the stolen merchandise.

It was later learned that the defendant was banned from Walmart properties on May 27, 2024.

Dakota Garrison, 24, of Paragould, was arrested for Commercial Burglary, a Class C Felony, and Theft of Property, a Class A Misdemeanor. Jail records also show several failure-to-appear charges for Garrison.

Bail was set at $25,000.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
