JONESBORO, Ark. — Craighead County remains under a burn ban, and a social media post on Thursday from the Jonesboro Fire Department reminded the public why.
Since lunch, JFD responded to four structure fires across Jonesboro, the department said Thursday afternoon.
Most of Arkansas is currently under a burn ban, according to the Arkansas Forestry Commission.

Burn bans are restrictions imposed by local or state governments to limit outdoor burning activities. These measures are typically enacted during dry or windy conditions when the risk of wildfires is elevated. The primary goal is to prevent accidental fires that could endanger lives, property, and natural habitats.
During a burn ban, various activities may be prohibited, including but not limited to:
-
Open burning of yard waste or agricultural debris
-
Campfires or bonfires
-
Use of fireworks or pyrotechnic displays
-
Controlled burns for land management purposes
