PARAGOULD, Ark. — A man is accused of aggravated assault against a security guard, according to a probable cause affidavit from the Paragould Police Department.
On October 20, 2024, police responded to W. Walnut Street for reports that someone was attacking the security guard, the affidavit said. The alleged victim, the acting security guard for the building, reported being assaulted by Michael Clayton.
The complainant said Clayton had assaulted him, shoved him to the ground, and kicked him in the torso. Clayton was accused of brandishing a knife during the altercation, as well. The alleged victim was reported to have had injuries to his ear.
The incident was recorded on video. Police reviewed the footage and noted it corroborated the alleged victim’s report.
Clayton was also noted in the affidavit to have made incriminating statements during a Miranda interview.
Michael Clayton, 56, of Paragould, was arrested for aggravated assault, a Class D felony.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
