JONESBORO, Ark. — The public learned of another shooting with injuries early Sunday morning in Jonesboro.
A post at 4:32 a.m. on the Jonesboro Police Department’s Facebook page revealed the news. Police said they were working a shooting that had occurred earlier on Phillip Evans Way.
Around 3 a.m., officers responded after a person arrived at a local hospital to seek treatment for an apparent gunshot, according to the release. A second victim has also reportedly been treated with a head injury related to this incident.
No additional victims were on the scene when officers arrived.
JPD’s Criminal Investigation Division has been called to investigate the incident.

Jessie James McDuffy, 27, of Memphis, has been arrested in connection with the incident, JPD’s Sally Smith said.

McDuffy was in court on Monday for his probable cause hearing, represented by attorney Zach Morrison of Morrison Law Firm. The state was represented by Prosecuting Attorney Sonia F. Hagood, who requested a $75,000 cash or surety bond. Morrison asked for a $10,000 cash or surety bond, arguing that this “wasn’t a drive-by street shooting” or a street crime.
“This was an isolated incident,” Morrison said. “I’m not sure what took place but he’s been injured himself. Based on what I understand, he may have a viable self-defense claim.”
Judge Tommy Fowler said he originally planned to set bail at $100,000, but given both arguments, decided to set it at $50,000 cash or surety, with a no-contact order in place and a GPS ankle monitor requirement.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Correction: An earlier version mistakenly said two people were shot. JPD clarified to a reporter that one was shot, another was injured with head trauma.

More crime from Memphis. Arkansas AG was talking about organized retail theft (mobs looting stores like they do in California) becoming a problem the Little Rock – Conway area. There has been some small stuff in Jonesboro already. I’m not confident in the local government given how they deal with about everything else.
