JPD’s Public Information Specialist released more Monday afternoon. At about 4:34 a.m. Sept. 8, JPD Officer Ronnie Crain was dispatched to the 500 block of Melrose Street in reference to a disturbance. Officer Crain had just been to this location less than an hour prior for an attempted burglary.
During that prior call, police said a suspect was identified as McCarther, who was allegedly armed with a handgun while attempting to steal a vehicle. The alleged victim told police the same suspect who tried to rob him before just showed back up and took his 2020 black Dodge Charger Scat Pack at gun point. The alleged victim also advised he still has his keys, but had no way of tracking the vehicle. A search for the vehicle began with no hits on JPD’s camera system at that time.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
