Alleged $20 Marijuana Sale Leads to 2.1-Pound Seizure, Three Arrests, Class Y Felonies

JONESBORO, Ark. — An alleged $20 marijuana sale outside a Jonesboro apartment led Drug Task Force agents to approximately 2.1 pounds of marijuana, two loaded guns and the arrests of three men, according to newly filed court records.

Keshundra Kewon Johnson, Lamond Deveonte Hollins and Maurice Rushawn Williams each face a Class Y felony count of simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, along with other charges.

Surveillance and Alleged Sale

Agents with the 2nd Judicial District Drug Task Force began watching an apartment on South Caraway Road on July 16 after receiving information about possible narcotics activity, according to probable cause affidavits.

An investigator reported seeing Johnson conduct a hand-to-hand transaction with the driver of a vehicle in the apartment parking lot. Agents stopped the vehicle and allegedly recovered marijuana from the driver.

During a probation search of the driver’s phone, investigators said they found evidence that the driver had arranged the purchase by contacting Hollins, paid $20 through Cash App and received the marijuana from Johnson.

Agents then began preparing a search warrant for the apartment.

The affidavits state that Johnson, Hollins and Williams were all seen entering or leaving the residence during surveillance. Hollins drove away while agents were preparing the warrant.

Johnson and Williams later left the apartment and walked toward Johnson’s Kia Optima. Williams approached a Drug Task Force vehicle before an agent got out, identified himself and called for backup, according to the affidavits.

Johnson allegedly fled in the Kia and threw approximately 3.5 grams of marijuana from the window. An agent took him into custody in a nearby apartment parking lot.

Search of Apartment

After obtaining the warrant, agents searched the South Caraway Road apartment.

In the kitchen, investigators reported finding 955 grams, or approximately 2.1 pounds, of marijuana inside a backpack. Agents also allegedly found a loaded .40-caliber Glock pistol, a digital scale with marijuana residue and clear plastic bags commonly used to package marijuana for sale.

A search of a bedroom allegedly uncovered another digital scale with marijuana residue, a loaded Anderson Arms AR-15 pistol and an additional loaded magazine.

Agents reported finding multiple pieces of mail addressed to Johnson, Hollins and Williams inside the apartment.

The affidavits state that Johnson and Hollins have prior felony convictions and are prohibited from possessing firearms.

Charges and Bonds

Johnson faces simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, a Class Y felony; possession of a firearm by certain persons, possession of marijuana with the purpose to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia, all Class D felonies; and Class A misdemeanor counts of fleeing and tampering with physical evidence.

Johnson’s temp bond was set at $250,000 cash or surety.

Hollins faces simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, a Class Y felony; use of a communication device, a Class C felony; and Class D felony counts of possession of a firearm by certain persons, possession of marijuana with the purpose to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hollins’ temp bond was set at $250,000 cash or surety, but was lowered to $150,000 after he appeared with defense counsel at his bond hearing on Monday

Williams faces simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, a Class Y felony, along with Class D felony counts of possession of marijuana with the purpose to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Williams’ bond was set at $150,000 cash or surety.

Their next court appearances are scheduled for Aug. 21.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
