One Arrested after Shooting in Blytheville Injures Man

BLYTHEVILLE, Ark. – One person is recovering from injuries and another in custody after a shooting on Thursday and an arrest over the weekend in Blytheville.

On May 9, 2024, officers from the Blytheville Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the 1700 Block of Chickasawba. The victim, identified as Danny Casey, 51, of Blytheville, was found at the scene suffering from gunshot wounds. Casey was promptly transported by Pafford to Regional One Hospital in Memphis, for urgent medical attention.

Following a thorough investigation, detectives identified the alleged shooter as Antonio Matthews, 27, of Blytheville.

On May 10, 2024, acting on received intelligence, officers proceeded to the Clearlake Apartment complex where Matthews was believed to be located. Successfully locating and apprehending Matthews, officers took him into custody without incident.

Subsequently, Antonio Matthews has been formally charged with Battery in the 1st Degree. He is scheduled to appear for arraignment at Blytheville District Court on May 13, 2024.

The Blytheville Police Department extended its gratitude to the community for their cooperation and assistance in this matter.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
