Free Music Industry Meet-Up Coming to Jonesboro Oct. 27

Musicians and music industry professionals are invited to a free meet-up Oct. 27 in downtown Jonesboro, with opportunities to connect across genres and generations.

JONESBORO, Ark. — Musicians and music industry professionals from across northeast Arkansas are invited to a free networking event from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, at Brickhouse Bar and Grill, 218 S. Main St. in downtown Jonesboro.

KASU, Arkansas State University’s public media service, is partnering with Arkansas Music Experience to host the Music Industry Meet-Up. It will be the organization’s first gathering in Jonesboro and eastern Arkansas, following similar events in Fayetteville, Conway and Little Rock, according to an A-State announcement.

The event is open to musicians of all ages, styles and genres, as well as people and businesses that support live music.

Those invited include photographers, graphic designers, sound reinforcement companies, recording studios, booking agents, radio stations, merchandise producers, music teachers and videographers. Booth space will be available for vendors.

Arkansas Music Experience works to celebrate and preserve the state’s musical heritage while supporting current artists and communities. The organization connects artists, managers, promoters, venue owners, media professionals and community stakeholders to help local talent and the music industry grow.

Marty Scarbrough, KASU program director, recently attended a meet-up in Fayetteville and said he was excited to see the program expand into northeast Arkansas.

“The atmosphere at that event was amazing. There were hundreds of musicians all together in one room, with people from across generations and across musical genres all supporting and encouraging one another,” Scarbrough said.

More information and vendor registration are available online.

KASU also supports Arkansas musicians through its long-running “Arkansas Roots” radio program, which features past and present recordings by Arkansas-connected acts across a wide range of styles and genres.

The program airs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.
