Man with Warrant Arrested for Possession in Hoxie

HOXIE, Ark. – A suspect with an active warrant through probation and parole was arrested this week in Hoxie, a press release from the Hoxie Police Department said. Below is the full release:

On Monday, April 30th at roughly 5:40pm, a Hoxie officer was dispatched to the gas station off Texas and Memphis in regards to a male passed out and slumped over the steering wheel.

Upon making contact with the vehicle, the officer observed a small glass smoking device with white burnt residue and torch lighter lying in the lap of the male subject who was later identified as Alan Skimahorn. The officer knocked on the window numerous times trying to get Skimahorn to respond. After tapping on it a little harder with his flashlight, Skimahorn finally responded and complied with the officers directions to exit the vehicle.

He was then placed in wrist restraints, his person searched and placed in the rear of the officers patrol car while a search of the vehicle was conducted which yielded a small baggie of suspected marijuana, Xanax bar and another metal smoking device containing suspected marijuana residue.

After running an ACIC/NCIC check it was found that Skimahorn had an active warrant with Arkansas Probation and Parole as well.

The vehicle was then towed and Skimahorn was transported to Lawrence County Detention Center where he was read his Miranda rights and agreed to make a statement. During the interview Skimahorn stated that the residue in the glass pipe was meth residue and that the baggie did in fact contain marijuana and a Xanax bar and the metal pipe was used in the consumption of marijuana.

Skimahorn was charged with:
Possession of Schedule 4 x2
Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Felony Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
