HOXIE, Ark. – A possible police impersonator was under investigation Monday in Lawrence County, police said on social media.

According to Jason Bristow from the Hoxie Police Department, around 5 PM Saturday, the suspect allegedly blocked a railroad worker leaving the railyard on the corner of SE 2nd and Lindsey.

“Witnesses stated the suspect drew his firearm as he exited his suv, approach the vehicle and identify himself as a BNSF Special Agent,” Bristow said in a social media post.

The man is also alleged to have identified himself as “railroad police” to a gas station clerk moments before using his debit card for a purchase.

Bristow’s social media post said they were working on identifying the suspect. Bristow told NEA Report that authorities believed they had developed a suspect but were awaiting an interview.

The suspect was believed to be driving a mid 2000s model Isuzu Rodeo.

Considering today’s date (April 1), NEA Report contacted Hoxie Mayor Dennis Coggins and confirmed this was a case the police department was working on. He said the person of interest was a Paragould man and authorities were working on resolving the case.

If you have additional information or may have encountered any suspicious behavior, contact Lawrence County Dispatch at 870-886-2525 Ext. 1 and ask to speak to a Hoxie officer.

UPDATE: They got him.
