HOXIE, Ark. – A man who was suspected of impersonating a police officer in March was arrested today in Greene County.
Byron Willcutt was arrested April 14, 2024, Hoxie Officer Jason Bristow told NEA Report. Willcutt was picked up by Paragould Police Department on a felony warrant and has been transported to Lawrence County Detention Center where he is being held on two counts of felony false imprisonment and three counts of criminal impersonation.
As first reported on NEA Report, around 5 PM Saturday, March 30, the suspect allegedly blocked a railroad worker leaving the railyard on the corner of SE 2nd and Lindsey.
“Witnesses stated the suspect drew his firearm as he exited his SUV, approach the vehicle and identify himself as a BNSF Special Agent,” Bristow said in a social media post.
The man is also alleged to have identified himself as “railroad police” to a gas station clerk moments before using his debit card for a purchase.
Bristow said the man doesn’t work for the railroad or law enforcement. He stated in his interview he worked for the railroad for about 60 days many years ago, according to authorities.
Hoxie PD sent out a special thanks to all the people who helped quickly identify the man following the initial report.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
