Sunday Afternoon Shooting Investigated in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, Ark. – A peaceful afternoon was interrupted by gunfire Sunday in a Jonesboro neighborhood.

Around 2 PM on March 3 at the 600-block of Warner Avenue, police received calls of gunfire. A witness reached out to NEA Report to report the incident, which our reporter later confirmed with JPD’s Public Information Specialist Sally Smith.

Authorities responded to the scene. Fortunately, there were no apparent injuries and only property damage was caused in the incident, Smith said.

NEA Report spoke to a witness who said he observed the shooting. According to the witness, he saw a man with a gun fire off several rounds. The man hit two houses and several rounds went into the dirt. Then, the man ran off between some houses.

The witness said the incident was close to the Culberhouse intersection on Warner. He said he watched police collect several shell casings into evidence.

NEA Report will update this story later today with more information, as it becomes available.
